I am so tired of the the constant negativity about the economy on every news channel. So tired of the bickering, blame and bail outs of businesses that I am not sure should be bailed out. I don't need someone to tell me daily that we are in crises. I feel it in person through my personal situation, friends in business and their fears of losing it all, friends and family losing their jobs, and driving down the street and seeing a favorite store closing.

And, on the other side of it, I also have several friends and acqauintances who have done okay, who have sold their homes, have not lost the majority of their investments, they have secure jobs, and they are interested in buying or building a new home. But, they are not doing so, because they are afraid of what might yet happen. They are putting it off "for now".

The sad part of this all is that it's a great time to build or buy. Banks are lending, there are tax advantages, many contractors are without work, and prices have come down on some materials. The other day I was wandering through a home design store that is closing, feeling so sad. My absolute favorite place to get building ideas, see products in person and purchase them on the spot. I so wished I had a new building project on the horizon to take advantage of the huge savings they were offering. The money I could be saving.

Are we becoming a nation of people afraid to live our lives? Will we wake one morning and the newscasters tell us the "economic crisis" is over? And, then we will feel immediately relieved? Of course not. A confidence has to return and that feeling will only happen by creating it ourselves. I encourage those who are able not to put it off for now, but rather take the leap - be a part of changing the news. Struggling businesses and workers need you now more than ever, they are barely hanging on to their dream.

I also am tired of the fear we live in. As a small contractor I do not concern myself with the negativity of the economy. I try to navigate to the possitive things the world has to offer. Yes buisnesses do close, but as far as I am concern if, a company offers quality services and are honest they will survive, and so will their employees. This recession we are in is a way for the strong to survive and the weak to fail.
