Suggestions for a good Timber Home Construction Book

I know very little about Timber Frame Construction methods, things like using SIP's,roofing systems and techniques. In this part of France where we live timber homes are very basic, mostly in kit form and look like large garden sheds. We live in a 18th century former water mill which I have completely rebuilt and the interior is 90% timber (douglas pine and oak) What we are looking for is a good book on Timber Home Construction with info on roof construction and wall construction using SIP's also things like how to finish exterior walls and using what materials. We have just ordered a book on-line Building the Timber Frame House by Tedd Benson, but it has not yet arrived.
Can anyone suggest any books that will help us with the items that I've already mentioned above. Any advice will be grately appreciated. Thank you in advance. Michael

Thank you for your comments, libraries in this part of france do not have anything on timber frame houses ,well not in english. Also the only timber frame homes that have just started to appear are very basic and in kit form.I looked on Amazon and have ordered 2 books 'The Timber Frame Home Design-Construction,Finishing.....by Tedd Benson and The Timber Frame Way by M Morris, but there is upto a 24 day delivery to europe.Hopefully these books will help us in our proposed project.

Have you tried looking in your library? Although I'm not sure that you'd find much information on modern SIPs, since library books tend to be somewhat dated.

You could also try Amazon.com. They have a "Search Inside This Book" feature that's really helpful on deciding if a book is useful before you purchase it. Usually the option is on the left under the cover image, and you can search for a term, or look at the index. http://www.amazon.com/Timber-Framers-Workshop-Construction-Traditional/dp/188926900X/ looks like it might be helpful to you.

Beautiful place. Tedd's book is one of the best there is, covering techniques and philosophy with good illustrations. WES
