Buy, Vacation Rent, Consulting

My husband and I have built two timber frame homes in Franklin, NC. They are both currently for sale. Perfect for a second/vacation home or if you are thinking of retiring and relocating full-time.

Both homes are currently available on the vacation rental market until they sell. If you have never stayed in a timber frame, can't wait to build one some day, come for a visit. They are located between Franklin & Highlands in Western NC. Wonderful area for hiking, waterfalls, fishing, rafting, & scenic mountain drives.

They are also a good investment if you would like to purchase and continue the vacation rental program to help pay your expenses.

Creative Spirit Continues

As I mentioned in my previous blog, I'm helping my friends, David & Bonnie Pickartz at Goshen Timber Frames with the decor of their new home. We are all alive and still friends, and best of all they are still married through this process.

This is the true test of compatibility, and again, compromise. David & Bonnie have graduated with a degree in The Art of Compromise.

Making choices of decor items is tough. You don't have the actual completed room to look… Continue

Creative Spirit Found Through My Friends

I'm on hold for a new building project until we sell one of our Timber Frame Homes on the market. So, helping my friends, David & Bonnie Pickartz with Goshen Timber Frames, create their personal dream home has helped my stagnant creativity lately. As I have mentioned in previous blogs. I love the construction process, each and every step it takes in creating the dream home.

Bonnie & David have allowed me to help them choose their color scheme, tile and flooring selections and… Continue

Take the Leap

I am so tired of the the constant negativity about the economy on every news channel. So tired of the bickering, blame and bail outs of businesses that I am not sure should be bailed out. I don't need someone to tell me daily that we are in crises. I feel it in person through my personal situation, friends in business and their fears of losing it all, friends and family losing their jobs, and driving down the street and seeing a favorite store closing.

And, on the other side of it, I… Continue

The Art of Compromise

Probably one of the most difficult parts of building any home is agreeing on design, products, and color. In working with clients recently, I realize how wonderful it is to have two partners who love each other, have been married for years, and yet who still have their own style and feel strongly about what they want for their dream home. I did say it was wonderful. And, it is. This is an opporutnity to compromise and realize that your partner wants their dream just as much as you want… Continue

When you think you know everything there is to know ...

We now have two timber frame homes under our belt. I thought after the first one we built, that the second would be a piece of cake. But, great lessons from each home.

Electrical - both were hybrid timber frame homes built with SIP panels. In addition to the SIP panels we wanted to tongue… Continue

Pam,Thank you for your help. I did put up a little comment about Glen's art (it's part of his artist statement). However we are not writers & this will take time to develop. I see you are in NC, we were down in Boone for the Furniture Society Conference, lots of good discussions, demos & always nice to see everyone. Glen donated High Society Mirror for the auction. We did take off some time to see Grandfather Mountain,The Biltmore,Craggy Gardens. Thank you again, Glen & Marie

Will do Pam. I honestly loved the concept of this virtual community and must become more involved. I looked at your site its fabulous, but tell me are you more aligned on the property side of the business or design services? My love is product and the development of a slightly different interpretation of the decor. We work with AMAZING mills all over Europe developing what we hope are the very finest textile driven products. I have been an apparel designer- evening wear designer for many years but my passion and sweet spot is certainly rustic home decor. I am looking forward to learning more about this community of enthusiasts and getting more involved. Thank you for your kind words and insights.
Best to you.... M

Hi Pam, I agree that Glen's site should be here, but I could not find where to add it. He is also on Craft haus http://crafthaus.ning.com/profile/GlenGuarino

We're jurying a table exhibit for Craft haus & will let everyone know when it is up. However he did not enter tables since we are jurying. He does design & make a lot of tables. Thanks, Marie
